Hamas is considering a disarmament plan from Donald Trump’s Board of Peace,
which envisions a phased process where Hamas hands over weapons and Israeli
forces withdraw. The plan, discussed by Nickolay Mladenov with Hamas leaders in
Cairo, would require surrender of heavy weapons, tunnel maps, and gradual
turnover of assault rifles, with full implementation potentially taking eight
months. Analysts say full acceptance is unlikely; Hamas may counter to buy time.
Palestinians hope disarmament will enable Gaza reconstruction, though armed
Hamas presence persists on the streets.
