Data from the Ministry of Transport show cross-region mobility exceeded 243.0 mln person-trips on the holiday's first day, up 6.4% from the previous day. Road, rail, civil aviation and waterborne passenger flows rose notably. Transport authorities increased capacity to ensure orderly travel.

Russian Defence Ministry’s 24-hour report on the 24th said Russian forces control multiple settlements in Donetsk, Kharkiv and Zaporizhia regions. The ministry said Russian air defenses shot down more than 200 fixed‑wing UAVs, the Black Sea Fleet destroyed one unmanned surface vessel, and it assessed Ukrainian losses of over 1,200 personnel across combat directions. Ukraine said that as of 08:00 local time on the 24th it had shot down or suppressed four Zircon hypersonic missiles, three Iskander‑M missiles and about 220 drones. Kyiv added that overnight from the evening of the 23rd to early 24th Russian forces launched multiple missiles and in excess of 200 drones, with major attacks focused on Odesa and Kyiv regions.

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi told reporters at the UN General Assembly in New York that Tehran has proposed a plan to the US to reopen the Strait of Hormuz within seven days. He said the plan builds on a memorandum of understanding reached in June but would only be implemented if specific conditions are satisfied and the US agrees. Araghchi added Iran would prefer completion before the US midterms but is not pressing on timing.
