The Hong Kong government will, from Oct. 1, expand its Facilitated Entry for
Invited Persons scheme: eligibility will be widened from ASEAN members to
include Central Asia and Middle East countries and regions, and all policy
bureaus and departments will be allowed to issue invitations under the scheme to
promote trade and exchanges. From the same date the Facilitated Entry for
Visitors Participating in Specified-Sector Short-Term Activities will be
broadened to let more non-local talent enter as visitors without work
visas/entry permits; the scheme will add the social welfare sector to the
existing 17 specified sectors and recognise additional institutions and
designated short-term activities.
