Poland’s operational command said a Russian Mi-8 military helicopter from the Kaliningrad exclave briefly violated NATO-member Poland’s airspace on Wednesday, remaining inside for 42 seconds and penetrating about 300 metres (328 yards). Fighters were scrambled and ground forces put on alert; the statement said the incident indicates Russia was testing Poland’s air-defence readiness.
