MIIT Deputy Minister Yu Xiaohui said at the opening of the 2026 China International Information and Communications Exhibition on Sept 23 that Beijing will accelerate AI–ICT integration and anticipate AI's transformative impact on telecom network architecture. He urged the industry to take an application‑led, moderately forward‑looking and systemwide approach to next‑generation network buildout: upgrade broadband toward a dual‑10Gbps architecture, develop low‑Earth‑orbit (LEO) satellite internet systems, optimise international submarine and terrestrial network layouts, expand and upgrade computing capacity, and strengthen compute‑network coordination and interconnection to support integrated compute‑network infrastructure construction.

Argentine President MILEI said on the 23rd he will defend sovereignty over the Malvinas (Falkland Islands) "in a peaceful, pragmatic and effective manner." The government has taken a tougher line on the islands' sovereignty. In a nationwide televised address on the evening of the 3rd MILEI said his administration will increase sanctions on foreign companies extracting natural resources in the islands and adjacent disputed waters. Sanctions procedures have been opened against 60 foreign companies and individuals.
