The office of the National Flood Control and Drought Relief Headquarters issued
a notice on July 10 saying Typhoon Bavi is approaching the Zhejiang–Fujian coast
and is expected to make landfall in the Xiapu (Fujian) to Wenling (Zhejiang)
coastal area in the early hours of July 12 at strong-typhoon to typhoon strength
(wind scale 13–15; 40–48 m/s). The system will move northwest after landfall.
From July 10–13 widespread heavy to torrential rain is forecast across East,
Central, North and Northeast China, with broad coverage, high intensity and
extreme rainfall in some areas.
