At the New York FX close the dollar index, measuring the dollar against six major currencies, slipped 0.03% to 100.990. EUR/USD rose to 1.1426 from 1.1419; GBP/USD to 1.3400 from 1.3363. USD/JPY climbed to 162.48 from 161.94. USD/CHF was unchanged at 0.8076. USD/CAD fell to 1.4169 from 1.4195. USD/SEK rose to 9.6903 from 9.6784.

Vietnam's government issued Resolution No. 34/2026/NQ-CP on June 30 extending preferential import duties, environmental protection tax relief and VAT exemptions for gasoline, diesel, fuel-production feedstock and aviation fuel through Sept. 30, 2026; the measures take effect July 1 and provide a three-month buffer for the domestic energy market.

The EU will give its weak industrial sector greater flexibility in the upcoming EU ETS reform while aiming to preserve incentives for clean-technology investment, EU officials said. The reform seeks to balance support for heavy industry’s transition to clean energy with measures that continue to reward faster-decarbonizing firms. The European Commission is expected to publish the proposal on July 17. To address competitiveness concerns in energy-intensive sectors, the Commission aims to launch as early as next year an ETS Investment Promotion Fund that would allocate 400 million allowances over three years to eligible firms on a first-come, first-served basis.
