Allies reaffirmed a firm commitment to collective defense under Article 5. European allies and Canada increased 2025 defense spending by more than $139 billion; U.S. President Trump sharply criticized U.S. burden‑sharing as disproportionately high. The statement pledged robust support for Ukraine versus Russia, saying European allies and Canada currently finance the bulk of security assistance via bilateral and multilateral channels and that support must be fair, predictable and sustainable. Allies reiterated that Iran must not acquire nuclear weapons and urged respect for freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz. NATO announced over $50 billion in new procurement and pledged to expand collective defense manufacturing capacity and cooperate with industry to accelerate innovation.
