Local media report a lithium ore processing plant described as West Africa's
largest has commenced operations in Nasarawa State, Nigeria. Operated by
Chinese-backed Diamond Energy Group, the facility processes 6,000 tonnes of
lithium ore per day (about 3.0 mln t/year), equivalent to roughly 30,000 tonnes
of lithium carbonate equivalent (LCE) annually. Sources close to Jiangxi Jiuling
Lithium and Suzhou Tianhua New Energy Technology say the two companies each hold
a 50% stake in the Diamond Energy Group shareholder structure.
