Amid surging demand for sea-based weapons systems, Lockheed Martin agreed to buy
naval defense firm Ultra Maritime from private equity firm Advent for $3.45 bln,
the company said on Monday. Ultra Maritime, sold by Advent’s CobhamUltra unit,
specializes in anti-submarine warfare across air, surface and subsurface
domains, including sonobuoy detection, sonar systems and torpedo
countermeasures, and supplies the navies of the US, Canada, the UK and
Australia.
