Samsung mobile, TV and appliance workers will rally on July 16 near the
company's Suwon headquarters to protest bonus awards to the semiconductor
division, the Samsung union said, YONHAP reported. Semiconductor workers, who
recently won a pay deal under a different union, received bonuses reportedly up
to 600 million won (about $390,000); non-chip employees are expected to receive
stock grants worth about 6 million won (≈$3,900). The largest union representing
mobile and consumer electronics staff, with roughly 28,000 members, said it
expects about 2,000–3,000 attendees.
