China's foreign minister Wang Yi met Finland's foreign minister Valtonen in Helsinki on the 5th. Wang said Finland was among the first Western states to establish diplomatic ties with China and the first to sign an intergovernmental trade agreement. He highlighted 76 years of close China–Finland ties and the 2017 establishment of a future-oriented cooperation partnership, and said China is willing to continue mutual respect and equal treatment and remain a trusted partner despite shifting international conditions.

CENC reported a magnitude 4.5 quake at 23:30 on July 5 in Mianzhu, Deyang, Sichuan (31.58°N, 104.00°E); focal depth 18 km. Two earlier shocks were recorded in the same area, magnitude 4.5 and 4.0.
