A shooting during July 4 Independence Day celebrations at Coney Island in Brooklyn injured eight people, the New York Police Department said. The incident occurred at about 10:35 p.m. local time as crowds watched fireworks. Four of the wounded are minors; a 21-year-old woman is in critical condition with a chest gunshot wound. All victims were taken to local hospitals. Police recovered a firearm at the scene; no suspect has been arrested.
