Uber has paused most of its planned food-delivery expansion across Europe,
dropping launches in five of seven target countries including Austria, Norway
and Greece, as it continues to pursue an acquisition of Berlin-based Delivery
Hero. The adjustment comes five months after Uber announced the push — at the
time targeting entry into markets such as the Czech Republic and Romania and
about US$1bn in added gross bookings over three years. Delivery Hero rejected
Uber’s €10bn takeover offer in May.
