South Korea's ruling Democratic Party on the 4th said it 'strongly regrets' a recent US report on e-commerce firm Coupang, calling the findings 'seriously inaccurate' and accusing Coupang of trying to shift responsibility for a large-scale user data breach onto the US report. The US House Judiciary Committee earlier issued an interim report saying Coupang had long been a 'target' of the South Korean government and alleging South Korea has conducted 'compulsory investigations, excessive regulatory burdens and heavy fines and penalties' against US firms.

The National Data Administration issued the Guidelines for Data Property Registration (Trial) to promote secure, compliant and efficient data circulation and use. The national data management authority will oversee nationwide data property registration, including establishing a unified national registration regime, guiding and supervising registration activities, and building and operating a national data property registration service system. The service system will aggregate registration records and provide nationwide public disclosure, query and verification services and support registrar management.
