China's Foreign Ministry on July 2 said Japanese premier TAKAICHI's repeated
promotion of a 'free and open Indo‑Pacific' is name‑only, accusing the rhetoric
of masking intentions of confrontation. Spokesman Guo Jiakun noted Japanese
officials have been lobbying in the Philippines, Vietnam, Australia and India
and said the concept runs counter to regional states' pursuit of peace,
development and cooperation and will not gain genuine support.
