From July 1 China’s national elderly-care consumption subsidy is available on
JD.com, with the first e-commerce redemption executed in Beijing. The Ministry
of Civil Affairs and Ministry of Finance will subsidize services for moderately
disabled and more severely disabled elderly across home care, institutional
care, respite and day-care; the JD rollout covers home-care services. Eligible
seniors on the JD app receive a 50% reduction on purchases of high-frequency
in-home services — assisted bathing, domestic help, hospital escort,
rehab/physiotherapy and short-term care — with a maximum subsidy of 800 yuan per
person per month.
