Eurozone inflation eased to 2.8% in June from 3.2% in May, below the 3.0%
consensus. Inflation excluding volatile food and fuel slowed to 2.4% from 2.6%;
services inflation fell to 3.2% from 3.5%. All readings remain above the ECB’s
2% target. Oil prices have fallen on market bets of a US‑Iran peace deal,
reinforcing expectations that energy-driven price pressures may ease. Several
ECB policymakers said there is no need to act this month and they have time to
monitor how price pressures evolve.
