A pilot mistakenly broadcast transponder code 7500 — the hijack signal — on a
Warsaw–Tel Aviv commercial flight on Tuesday, prompting the Israeli military to
scramble two fighters to intercept the aircraft over the Mediterranean and
Bulgaria to dispatch a MiG‑29 to escort it in Bulgarian airspace. A Polish
carrier said the flight was operated by Bulgarian Electra Airways; the crew
later cancelled the emergency after follow-up communications and Warsaw Chopin
Airport reported no signs of external interference.
