Iran's foreign ministry spokesman Baghaei said ending the war in Lebanon and
Israeli military operations there — including withdrawal of occupying forces
from all occupied Lebanese territory — is a basic condition for any final
agreement and for regional stability, citing Iran's policy grounded in the UN
Charter and international law to uphold Lebanese sovereignty and security. He
said Iran placed ending Israel's military campaign in Lebanon on an equal
priority with ending the war against Iran in both the April 8 ceasefire and the
June 18 memorandum on ending the war, and has insisted on implementation of the
memorandum's first clause.
