Politico reports that after U.S. and Israeli strikes on Iran on Feb. 28, Israeli
officials briefly viewed the alliance as entering a 'golden era' but four months
later are preparing for greater isolation. U.S. Vice President Vance told Israel
last week it 'has almost no friends' and warned it not to attack its only
remaining powerful ally. Seven sources, including U.S. and Israeli officials,
said Vance's remarks reflect a new normal in which Israel's status no longer
receives priority treatment from Washington. Tensions are visible: one source
said Prime Minister Netanyahu visited Washington five times in 2025 but has made
only one trip this year, in February, and phone contact has fallen sharply.
