Iran's foreign ministry spokesman dismissed Gulf Cooperation Council concerns about Iran's military capabilities, saying Iran's defensive measures are not negotiable or subject to concessions.

The Financial Times reports the EU plans to impose a 15% export tax on aluminum scrap, expected to take effect on Sept. 9. The levy, reportedly Brussels' first charge on outbound goods, is designed to curb scrap shipments to the US and Asia and to protect EU producers. European smelters say overseas refiners have been buying European scrap at higher prices, melting it into new metal and exporting it back to the bloc, putting domestic firms at a competitive disadvantage. European Aluminium director-general Paul Voss said Europe’s industry should be able to compete on a level playing field.

Shanghai Stock Exchange said it will place heightened surveillance from June 22 through June 26, 2026, on stocks showing abnormal volatility — Changyingtong, Zhongchuan Teqi and Yunzhong Technology — and on funds trading at elevated premiums, including Caitong Fuxin LOF and Global Chip LOF.
