Omdia says rising component costs and heightened geopolitical uncertainty are
prompting a structural shift in the global smartphone market, with leading
vendors moving away from low-cost, high-volume models toward higher-end,
higher-value portfolios. Omdia forecasts 2026 global smartphone shipments will
fall 12.2% YoY to 1.093 bln units, roughly 152 mln fewer than 2025, while total
market value is expected to rise 6.1% YoY. Average selling price is projected to
climb from $467 in 2025 to $565 in 2026.
