President Trump said Iran has fully agreed to accept long-term, potentially
permanent, highest-level nuclear inspections and warned there would be no
further talks if Iran refused. He said he has agreed not to impose a maritime
blockade on the Strait of Hormuz and to keep the waterway open, though US
vessels will remain on standby to reimpose a blockade if necessary. Any US
Treasury disbursements and/or sanctions relief will be placed in a US-controlled
escrow account and restricted to purchases of food and medical supplies procured
entirely from the United States, including corn, wheat and soybeans. Trump
characterized the move as humanitarian and said negotiations are progressing.
