June 22 — Vice Minister of Commerce and deputy chief trade negotiator Ling Ji
met with a delegation from the Asia‑Pacific Medical Technology Association and
member firms to discuss the operating environment and concerns of foreign
medtech companies in China. Ling said that during the 15th Five‑Year Plan period
China will accelerate development of biopharma and other emerging pillar
industries, advance the Healthy China agenda, and welcomes multinational
pharmaceutical and medtech companies to deepen cooperation, expand in‑China R&D,
and increase localization of production and supply chains to help safeguard
global pharmaceutical supply‑chain stability. The association and member firms
said they see significant market potential in China and plan to increase
investment, deepen local partnerships and intensify regional technology
exchanges.
