On June 22, CATL and Octopus Energy announced a joint venture to build a European heavy-truck battery-swap network. CATL will deploy its Qiji battery-swap technology in Europe to raise replenishment efficiency for heavy trucks and accelerate road freight electrification. The partners plan first UK demo swap stations by 2027, prioritising motorways and key logistics ports. The network is targeted to exceed 30 stations by 2035, extending to Scotland and Wales and covering the UK's core trunk routes.

China registered 25,297 new foreign-invested enterprises in Jan–May (+5.3% YoY). Actual use of foreign capital was CNY 327.29 bln, down 8.6% YoY; May alone rose 5.9% YoY. By sector, manufacturing attracted CNY 86.97 bln and services CNY 234.15 bln. High-tech industries drew CNY 130.14 bln, up 19.4% YoY and accounting for 39.8% of total FDI, up 9.4 percentage points. Subsector gains included R&D and design services +96.2%, computer and office equipment manufacturing +29.7% and electronic and communications equipment manufacturing +18.2%. FDI from Saudi Arabia, Malaysia, Switzerland and the United States rose 285.5%, 108.6%, 49.4% and 17.3% respectively (including freeport investment data).
