The National Medical Products Administration (NMPA) today released its 2025 Annual Report on New Drug Registration Clinical Trial Progress, showing China’s total number of drug clinical trials surpassed 5,000 for the first time. The report says 248 new drugs received regulatory approval following clinical trials in 2025, covering 18 indication areas including oncology, endocrine and psychiatric disorders.

At a June 22 briefing, Chinese foreign ministry spokesman Guo Jiakun declined to say whether Beijing had been notified of a Tokyo police arrest reported by Japanese media that linked the suspect to the Taizi Group, accused of operating multiple telecom-fraud compounds. Guo referred detailed questions to the relevant Chinese authorities and urged neighbouring countries to strengthen joint law-enforcement cooperation against online gambling and telecom fraud to protect lives, property and regional order.
