The Guardian reports British Prime Minister Starmer is expected to announce a
timetable for his departure on the morning of the 22nd (local time), a move that
would smooth the way for Andy Burnham to become prime minister without a formal
leadership contest before autumn. Cabinet ministers say Starmer will make the
announcement outside 10 Downing Street; No.10 insists he still stands by his
commitment made on the 19th to contest any challenge. More than six cabinet
ministers have privately told Starmer his premiership is over, and he spent the
weekend at Chequers finalising potential exit plans, the paper said.
