IRAN'S SEMI-OFFICIAL MEHR REPORTS EXPLOSION IN AREA NEAR HORMUZ

Senior Iranian official Mohsen Rezaei said Tehran would not allow the U.S. to reopen the Strait of Hormuz under an “unrealistic plan” without compensation for war damage, according to Iran’s state broadcaster Press TV. Rezaei, a longtime adviser to late Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, was referring to a 14-point U.S. proposal aimed at reopening the waterway and ending the conflict. He said any agreement must deliver “tangible benefits” for Iran rather than a “flamboyant gesture” from Washington, and added Iran would continue demanding reparations even if U.S. forces withdraw from the region.
