The US Treasury Department has privately demanded that Binance comply with a
monitoring program tied to its 2023 anti-money-laundering settlement, according
to The Information. The request followed reports alleging more than $1 billion
flowed through the exchange to Iran-linked groups in 2024 and 2025. Treasury
Under Secretary for Terrorism Gene Lange reportedly reminded Binance to
cooperate fully by providing relevant records and documents promptly. Binance
said it is cooperating with the independent monitor and strengthening
transparency and compliance controls. The exchange previously agreed to pay more
than $4 billion in penalties and retain an independent compliance monitor for
three years.
