Apple Inc. will permanently close its retail store at Towson Town Center in
Maryland in June, a location known for a rare unionization effort by employees.
The company cited declining conditions at the mall and the departure of other
retailers as reasons for the shutdown. Apple said the decision was difficult and
noted it rarely closes stores, typically doing so due to falling foot traffic or
shifts to nearby locations.
