Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi instructed Trade Minister Ryosei Akazawa
to conduct a full review of the country’s petroleum-related supply chains,
including non-energy products like naphtha, as Japan copes with disruptions from
the Iran war. Foreign Minister Toshimitsu Motegi and Defense Minister Shinjiro
Koizumi attended the meeting. Japan has begun tapping oil reserves and will
subsidize gasoline prices, while facing US pressure to support Strait of Hormuz
security.
