The China Enterprise Reform and Development Research Association's Global Energy
Transition Report (2026) says China has built the world's largest,
fastest-growing renewables system. Coal-fired generation fell to 49.7% in 1H,
the first time below 50%, with coal shifting from main baseload to a backstop
and system-regulation role. The report forecasts China's total energy investment
could reach $940 bln in 2026, ranking first worldwide. China still dominates
renewables manufacturing, supplying roughly 70% of global wind equipment and 80%
of solar PV modules, and has helped push global wind and solar generation costs
down by more than 60% and 80%, respectively.
