The Department of Homeland Security said Secret Service agents arrested a
Venezuelan national near the White House after he told agents "a voice in my
head told me to come to Washington to assassinate President Trump." Agents
recovered a rifle, two handguns, dozens of rounds and a stolen vehicle. DHS said
the man illegally entered the U.S. in 2024; he faces multiple weapons-related
charges. The Secret Service said the White House has increasingly been a target
of people with mental-health issues.
