Three senior U.S. Justice Department officials resigned after the 2026 midterm
elections, U.S. media said, marking an expected wave of departures. Attorney
General Todd Blanche on the 6th announced the resignations of Southern District
of Florida U.S. Attorney Jason Redding Quiñones and Assistant Attorney General
for National Security John Eisenberg. A day earlier Blanche had confirmed the
resignation of Assistant Attorney General for Civil Rights Hamit Dillon; Dillon
notified the White House in October and agreed to stay through the election.
Dillon’s spokesperson said he will return to his firm, Dillon Law Group. U.S.
outlets said departures were unsurprising after Republicans lost control of both
chambers of Congress, leaving the Trump administration in a “lame‑duck” position
and prompting some officials to return to higher‑paying private practice.
