According to US media reports, Ali al-Thawadi, strategic affairs advisor to the Qatari Foreign Minister, stated that the Iranian leadership is waiting to see if the US midterm elections will change the US policy stance towards Iran. He added that Iran views a previous letter from US Vice President Vance as a gesture of respect and acknowledges Vance's admission that the war was a mistake. Sawadi stated that Iran now hopes the US will take concrete action on an issue that appears to have become a consensus between Democrats and Republicans.
