Qualcomm (QCOM.O) said it has renewed a global licensing agreement with Apple
(AAPL.O) that will take effect in April 2027. Qualcomm collects royalties tied
to handset shipments. The company said a weak smartphone market has pressured
results, it outsources chip production and is passing some cost increases to
customers—actions it expects will help margins recover over time. A surge in AI
compute demand has worsened memory-chip shortages, forcing Qualcomm customers
including Apple to cut phone output.
