Sun Shuopeng, vice minister of the Ministry of Civil Affairs, told a State
Council Information Office briefing on Sept. 23 that China has 13,000 rural
nursing homes and 233,000 rural eldercare facilities. During the 15th Five-Year
Plan period the ministry will accelerate construction of a
county–township–village three-tier eldercare network and, targeting different
senior groups, expand demand-led provision of universal, basic and safety‑net
eldercare services.
