Jarrod Agen told Axios gasoline affordability remains President Trump’s top
concern. AAA put the US average gasoline price at about $4.48/gal versus
$3.18/gal a year earlier. Agen said crude "has begun to move," though it is
unclear how much is transiting the Strait of Hormuz, and that market crude
supply has increased. He attributed price declines to tight refining capacity
Domestically and globally, citing Russia’s refining output down roughly 30–40%.
Agen reiterated the president’s long-term goal is to prevent Iran from acquiring
nuclear capability, saying that outcome justifies policy costs over time.
