Meteorological agencies forecast heavy rain driven by the southwest monsoon and
long-range moisture transport from Typhoon Bavi, impacting Beijing–Tianjin–Hebei
and Northeast China. From July 11–13 parts of North China, the Northeast and
eastern Northwest are expected to see heavy to very heavy rain with large
cumulative totals; very heavy rainfall is forecast for NE Beijing, N Tianjin, NE
Hebei, N Liaoning and central Jilin. After joint assessment with the Ministry of
Natural Resources, northern Tianjin, northeast Liaoning and central Jilin were
judged at high risk for geological disasters. Under the national emergency plan,
the Ministry of Emergency Management launched a national level-4 on July 11
geological disaster emergency response for Tianjin, Liaoning and Jilin.
