Under guidance from the Global Computing Alliance and hosted by the OpenAI Infra
community, Huawei and more than 20 industry partners — including China Mobile
Research Institute, JD Cloud, Baidu and the China Electronics Standardization
Research Institute — launched the OPEN NPO project in Beijing and established
China’s first NPO optical interconnect MSA (Multi-Source Agreement). The
initiative aims to create an open, unified near-package optical standards
framework to accelerate next‑generation high‑speed optical interconnect
innovation and industry coordination, and to support development of domestic
high‑end AI compute infrastructure and a self‑contained high‑speed optical
interconnect ecosystem.
