On the 8th Iran’s permanent UN representative, Iravani, wrote to UN Secretary-General Guterres and the Security Council’s monthly president, DRC envoy Zenon Ngay Mukongo, accusing the United States of repeated acts of aggression that violates the UN Charter and other rules of international law. The letter said the latest US actions flagrantly breach the Charter and violate provisions of an Islamabad memorandum of understanding, that Washington’s repeated and deliberate breaches amount to a fundamental abandonment of the memorandum, and that the US must bear full international legal and political responsibility for its illegal acts and any resultant dangerous escalation. Citing the seriousness of the situation, Iran urged the secretary-general and the Security Council to take immediate, effective and decisive measures to force the United States to stop its ongoing illegal actions and prevent further escalation.
