On Tuesday, US chip giant Nvidia (NVDA.O) officially opened its new research and development center in Beersheba, Israel, completing its relocation to the city. Located in the Gav Yam (Bayside) high-tech park, the 3,000-square-meter center is three times the size of its original location and currently houses hundreds of workstations. Sources indicate the building cost tens of millions of shekels, with a 10-year lease and an annual rent of approximately 2.5 million shekels. The new center currently houses over 150 employees, and the company plans to continue expanding its operations by hiring hundreds more over the next few years. The new center houses research teams responsible for developing the hardware and software technologies needed for Nvidia's artificial intelligence (AI) infrastructure. These teams are dedicated to developing solutions that enable the company to connect thousands of chips and processors, achieve high-speed data transfer between them, and operate data centers for training and running AI models.
