China’s above-scale industrial firms have an AI application penetration rate above 30%, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology said ahead of the 2026 World Artificial Intelligence Conference in Shanghai. MIIT said full-year humanoid robot production is expected to exceed 100,000 units in 2026 and that humanoid robots are starting to enter factories and workshops. MIIT is coordinating targeted initiatives — modular resonance and humanoid-robot and embodied-intelligence real-scene training — to accelerate high-value industrial use cases. The China–BRICS AI Development and Cooperation Center will publish an International AI Ethics Governance Action Plan during the conference.
