GlobalData projects Malaysian mobile service revenue will rise from $5.4 bln in
2025 to $6.3 bln by 2030, a 3.4% CAGR, with mobile data revenue offsetting
declines in voice (Mobile Communications Forecast Q1 2026). Per-capita monthly
mobile data use is forecast to climb from 27GB in 2025 to 62GB in 2030, driven
by online video, social media and wider 5G plan adoption; 5G users exceeded 4G
in 2025. The Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) has
granted U Mobile a second 5G wholesale network license to operate alongside
Digital Nasional Berhad; U Mobile selected Huawei and ZTE in April 2025 as
technology partners for 5G/5G‑Advanced deployments, including network slicing
and indoor coverage optimization. Machine‑to‑machine and IoT connections are
expected to grow at 11.8% CAGR.
