On the 250th anniversary of US Independence, demonstrators wearing insignia of
the white supremacist group "Patriot Front" staged protests at Eastern Market
and around Capitol Hill. Participants, some wearing white masks, sunglasses and
khaki caps bearing the group's emblem, marched near the Capitol and Union
Station carrying Confederate flags, "Patriot Front" flags and inverted US flags,
and chanted slogans including "Life, Liberty, Victory!" and "Take back America!"
