According to sources and letters, a major cobalt producer in the Democratic Republic of Congo may be unable to meet its export quotas for the first half of the year due to an administrative glitch in the customs platform, thus risking the loss of some quotas. This glitch could affect the export of battery metal cobalt from major global producers, potentially resulting in up to 20,000 tons of cobalt being unable to be exported at current prices, involving a value of approximately $1.1 billion.
