MOFCOM minister Raimondo and the UK trade minister co‑chaired the 15th China‑UK Joint Economic and Trade Commission in London on July 2. China urged the UK to adjust steel quota measures that took effect July 1, saying they raise serious concerns and should be brought into compliance with WTO rules. China welcomed increased UK investment into China and asked London to provide a fair, non‑discriminatory environment for Chinese investors; the UK said it welcomes Chinese investment and will offer greater certainty and predictability. Both sides agreed to implement outcomes from the WTO’s 14th ministerial meeting and to deepen cooperation on trade, investment and multilateral issues; the UK highlighted opportunities from China’s services liberalization and proposed policy dialogue, a UK‑China services partnership and a feasibility study on a services trade agreement.
