July 2 — At the 2026 Global Digital Economy Conference opening, the Cyberspace
Administration of China, the Ministry of Culture and Tourism and the Ministry of
Commerce launched a targeted initiative to improve digital services for inbound
foreign visitors. The program will pilot in Beijing, Shanghai, Shenzhen,
Hangzhou, Chengdu and Sanya and aims, over about one year, to roll out flagship
use cases, remove bottlenecks in digital access across residence, medical,
payment, tourism and public services, lift regional inbound-digital service
levels and promote an interoperable, inclusive system with mutual recognition of
standards.
