On July 1 foreign ministry spokesman Guo Jiakun said Honduras' foreign ministry
had clarified it did not discuss restoring diplomatic ties with Taiwan, a move
he said exposed the Lai Ching-te administration's 'diplomacy of lies.' Guo
reiterated that Taiwan independence lacks popular support and is destined to
fail, and said China, on the one‑China principle, is willing to advance
China‑Honduras relations for the benefit of both peoples.
